The Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) is Victoria’s trusted source of cancer data, providing insights that drive research, policy, and better outcomes. Our Data Analytics team transforms complex data into actionable intelligence, manages data requests, and publishes key cancer statistics. Using tools like R and R Markdown in a collaborative, impact-driven environment, we help stakeholders access high-quality cancer information that makes a real difference.
About your opportunity
We are seeking a Clinical Cancer Terminology Specialist to join the Victorian Cancer Registry Division. Reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance and Innovation, your role is to:
- Lead development and stewardship of the national MCR cancer data dictionary.
- Define and maintain nationally consistent clinical and administrative data elements, including complex derived items.
- Set national data capture, validation and quality requirements.
- Resolve data gaps and jurisdictional inconsistencies to achieve national standards.
- Produce and maintain authoritative documentation and guidance.
- Act as the central reference point for cancer data definitions.
- Collaborate with cancer information teams, clinicians and national stakeholders to support implementation

- deep understanding of cancer data and clinical terminologies and experience working with large, structured datasets
- strong problem‑solving skills and high attention to detail
- ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and build strong written, verbal, and stakeholder relationships.
