The Cancer Epidemiology Division (CED) is a world-leading research unit working to produce high-quality, timely evidence identifying the causes of cancer, predictors of cancer risk, and factors affecting survival following a cancer diagnosis, to improve prevention, screening and survival. It comprises a multidisciplinary team of epidemiologists and support staff, committed to understanding how to improve our efforts at cancer control.
CED research is based on several research platforms and programs that contribute to the generation of knowledge about cancer. These include the Australian Breakthrough Cancer (ABC) Study, the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study (Health 2020), the Lifestyle Epidemiology Program, the Genomic Epidemiology Program, the Prostate Cancer Program, the Forgotten Cancers Program, and Inequalities in Cancer Outcomes. CED researchers collaborate extensively with other researchers in Australia and overseas.
About your opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Research Officer to join the Cancer Epidemiology Division. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Division, your role is to:
- Conduct statistical analyses of molecular and epidemiological data to address specific research questions
- Apply appropriate statistical methods to analyse complex datasets
- Provide statistical support, including development of statistical analysis plans, analysis and careful review of code and output
- Be able to collaborate in and contribute to multiple-author papers.
All about you
We are looking for someone with:
- Master’s Degree in biostatistics or epidemiology, with extensive statistical training
- Expertise in Stata and/or R statistical software
- Demonstrated personal commitment to and evidence of achievement in scholarly research
- Strong understanding of contemporary epidemiological approaches and ability to analyse complex datasets using innovative statistical methods
