The Fundraising and Communications Division is responsible for ensuring that Cancer Council maintains a visible, engaging presence in the community; and to inspire and activate support from Victorians.

This is achieved through best-practice high volume direct marketing approaches; exceptional relationship management of high value supporters including major donors, charitable foundations, corporate partners and Gifts in Wills supporters; delivery of iconic fundraising events; and product sales and royalties through our retail arm.

The Partnerships and Philanthropy Unit is responsible for developing and implementing an effective relationship management approach with high value supporters to deliver significant and sustainable income to support the work of Cancer Council Victoria – working with major donors, charitable foundations, corporate partners and Gifts in Wills supporters.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Gifts in Wills and Estates Officer to support Cancer Council Victoria’s vital Gifts in Wills Program through the administration of estates and supporter related activities, to ensure receipt of income to contribute to cancer research, prevention and support, and the recognition and honouring of individuals who have generously left a gift in their Will to Cancer Council Victoria. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Gifts in Wills, your role will:

  • Receive notifications as the primary point of contact for estates for Cancer Council Victoria.
  • Ensure our external service provider, Bequest Assist, is copied on all communications.
  • Update and circulate the Estate Dashboard to support accurate and timely forecasting of revenue from Estates.
  • Engage with the families of deceased supporters to thank and acknowledge their loved one’s legacy and provide information about the impact of the gift.
  • Administer Cancer Council Victoria’s new digital honour book where the loved ones of those who have left a gift in their Will to us can share memories and stories to continue their legacy.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar administration role
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Passionate about having a positive impact on the future of cancer
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively both autonomously and as a member of a team
  • High-level skills in MS Office, including Word and Excel and CRM databases.
