The Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) is a population-based cancer registry that provides comprehensive, accurate and timely information for cancer control by developing and maintaining a high quality, accessible information asset to support epidemiological, clinical, behavioural and health services research and evaluation.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) and the Victorian Department of Health (DH) have established an ongoing collaboration that includes an established annual record linkage of data on Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) incident cancers to various administrative datasets, including hospital inpatient and emergency department data and population-based radiotherapy data, as well as vital status information from the Victorian and national death registries.

The Analysis of Linked Information on Cancer (ALIC) Team leverages data from these linked datasets to facilitate the provision of information relevant to important research and related questions that are central to policy and practice in the Victorian context and allow these questions to be addressed in a timely and efficient manner.

About your opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the Analysis of Linked Information on Cancer (ALIC) team in the Victorian Cancer Registry Division. Reporting to the Research Fellow (team leader), your role is to:

  • Analyse data from linked administrative datasets to monitor and improve quality of cancer care delivered in Victoria
  • Visualise and communicate results of analyses to stakeholders
  • Contribute to writing reports to inform policy development
  • Contribute to preparing academic manuscripts for publication

All about you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Master’s degree in biostatistics, epidemiology or related discipline with extensive statistical training
  • Ability to use the R programming language to conduct statistical analysis using health data
  • Ability to visualise and communicate results, either in written reports or oral presentations, to relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise work and to be flexible to changing demands
