The Strategy and Support Division works directly with people, clinicians, researchers and policymakers. Our purpose is to reduce inequities and improve outcomes for all people affected by cancer, now and into the future. Our division comprises of Cancer Information and Support Services, Research Governance and Business Operations, Cancer Strategy and the McCabe Centre for Law & Cancer.

POSITION CONTEXT

In December 2023, funding was announced by the Victorian State Government for the ‘Consumers Leading Transformational Change in the Cancer Sector’ research partnership. This statewide multi-partner collaboration includes the Cancer Council Victoria, Regional Trials Network, Monash Comprehensive Cancer Consortium, VCCC Alliance and the University of Melbourne. The partnership will create and evaluate a consumer leadership program.  

 

Consumer Liaison Advisors will be located on three sites, Cancer Council Victoria, Regional Trials Network and the Monash Comprehensive Cancer Consortium.

About your opportunity

We are seeking an experienced - Consumer Advisor, reporting to the Engagement Manager. The Consumer Liaison Advisor will:

 

  • Support the development of, and implement consumer engagement strategies as part of a consumer leadership program
  • Build the capacity and skills of consumers by implementing a consumer education and mentoring program including consumer placement activities
  • Work closely with Cancer Council staff and collaborating partner organisations to oversee the smooth implementation of consumer leadership activities
  • Build trusted relationships with consumers and stakeholders

The role requires a self-motivated individual with a commitment to consumer engagement and a consumer led approach.

 

We are looking for someone with:

 

  • A Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline such as health, social science, communications, education, management, or related field
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management skills including the ability to build effective working relationships with consumers and stakeholders in a multi partner project
  • Excellent problem-solving ability, proven organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and efficiently manage time
  • Experience using videoconferencing platforms, CRM (Salesforce), Microsoft Office and proven ability to meet contract requirements/deliverables
  • Demonstrated project management experience preferably in a consumer setting
